Event: PTA Meeting and Executive Handover Ceremony
The Redeemed International School of Africa (RISA) marked a significant milestone in its Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) history during the meeting held on October 16th, 2024. It was a day of mixed emotions as we bid farewell to our outgoing PTA leadership while welcoming a new team to guide the association forward.
Honoring 14 Years of Dedicated Service
The highlight of the meeting was the formal send-off for Professor Johnson Obuna, the PTA Chairman, and his assistant, Dr. Chibuzor Kalu, who have collectively led the association for an impressive 14 years. Their tenure has been characterized by unwavering commitment, visionary leadership, and significant contributions to the development of our school.
During the ceremony, tributes poured in from various stakeholders – school administrators, teachers, parents, and even students – all acknowledging the remarkable impact of Prof. Obuna and Dr. Kalu’s leadership. Their stewardship saw numerous improvements in school facilities, enhanced parent-teacher collaboration, and strengthened community engagement.
The outgoing leaders were presented with tokens of appreciation and plaques commemorating their service. In his farewell address, Prof. Obuna expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and encouraged parents to continue supporting the school’s mission.
A Smooth Transition of Leadership
In a well-coordinated transition process, the same meeting witnessed the inauguration of a new PTA executive team, with Dr. Mba Onu taking the helm as the new Chairman. The inauguration ceremony was conducted with dignity and purpose, symbolizing the continuity of the PTA’s mission to support the school’s development.
Dr. Onu, in his acceptance speech, acknowledged the solid foundation laid by his predecessors and pledged to build upon their legacy. He outlined his vision for the PTA, which includes:
- Strengthening the home-school partnership
- Supporting the school’s academic and extracurricular programs
- Enhancing communication between parents and the school administration
- Contributing to infrastructural development where needed
A Community United in Purpose
The meeting was well-attended by parents, teachers, and school administrators, demonstrating the strong community spirit that characterizes RISA. The atmosphere was one of gratitude for past service and optimism for the future.
The outgoing and incoming executives jointly participated in a symbolic handover ceremony, representing the seamless transition of leadership and the shared commitment to the school’s progress.
Looking Forward
As we embark on this new chapter in our PTA’s history, we are filled with hope and anticipation for what lies ahead. The dedication of our parent community continues to be one of RISA’s greatest strengths, and we are confident that under Dr. Onu’s leadership, the PTA will continue to thrive and contribute meaningfully to our school’s development.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Johnson Obuna and Dr. Chibuzor Kalu for their remarkable service and wish them well in their future endeavors. We also congratulate Dr. Mba Onu and his team on their inauguration and pledge our full support as they lead the PTA into this new era.
The baton has been passed, and we move forward together, united in our commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for our children at RISA.
